About Ribbons Galore

Ribbons Galore is the place people come to for modern and fresh, funky and fun ribbon designs in bright and colourful ranges.

Unable to find one place to buy ribbons, Fiona Carter created the idea of a shop dedicated to selling ribbons.

Ribbons Galore originally traded as an ebay store for 18 months from early 2004. In 2005 Fiona decided it was time to move to a dedicated online space for Ribbons Galore. She set out to design a website that is easily navigated, with loads of ideas. Early in 2006 the original Ribbons Galore online store was launched.

Moving forward 6 years, Ribbons Galore needed a little face lift. When the original website was built, there was no Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram, things which businesses now use regularly and incorporate into websites. Fiona wanted to include new areas to the website like the how-to’s and tutorials section to help customers create beautiful things using ribbons. The whole shopping area needed expanding. It was decided a whole new website would be designed and built to cope with the latest features an online store needed.

In January 2013, the new Ribbons Galore website was opened for business.

About Fiona Carter

I’m Fiona, the owner, operator, order packer, product purchaser, photographer and website manager for Ribbons Galore.

My interest in sewing and crafts go way back to my childhood. I was always busy sewing, crocheting, embroidery, card making and making macrame pot plant hangers (yes, it was a 1970’s childhood).

I trained in Catering and Hospitality Management at a Sydney Catering college and worked in the hospitality and tourism industries prior to the arrival of my two gorgeous girls.

My love of sewing lead me to further study at the Fashion School of a Sydney TAFE college, graduating in 1995 with a Certificate of Clothing Manufacturing and an Advance Certificate in Children’s Wear Design.

In 2000, I was introduced to scrapbooking through a friend, and loved the concept of recording the story of my family’s lives in a creative way. From 2004 to 2006 I worked as a Creative Editor on the Scrapbooking Memories magazine’s Creative Team writing regular articles, creating projects for the magazine and presenting ideas at several Craft and Quilt Fairs around Australia.

In 2006 I opened the virtual doors to the original Ribbons Galore online store, and have enjoyed owning and operating my own business since.

We, Ribbons Galore and I, hope you enjoy shopping with us.
